KING ARTHUR'S TINTAGEL UPDATE

4/26/2016

This is an update to my recent blog post about Tintagel Castle, the supposed birth place of King Arthur.  The controversy regarding the "Disneyfication" of Tintagel is heating up and I have added links to some recent information.  I have also found a great 3D drawing of the Great Hall as it would have been in the 13th century.

One of the treasure hunters in Excalibur Rising Book One finds himself in a Great Hall of this period, but it's not quite as clean and well equipped.  It's full of enemies, and he has no idea how he got there.  This illustration will help you to imagine the scene while you read the book.

Meantime the controversy surrounds the expansion of Tintagel as a tourist destination continues. The winning design for a footbridge to the castle includes a gap in the middle.  No idea how that is going to work.  Will there be a "mind the gap" announcement?  - See the  contest winner

Meanwhile another new statue is to be unveiled at Tintagel amid protests from purists.  This time it is a representation of ... well, no one is willing to say who it is.  Apparently the identity is in the eye of the beholder.
